Gas Transport to Malanje by Train Relaunched in Angola

The relaunch of rail transport of butane gas, from Luanda to Malanje, after 30 years of interruption, took place on November 11 at the Malanje Railway Station, with the symbolic arrival of the locomotive, carrying 400 m3 of the product.

The event was attended by the Governor of Malanje province, Norberto dos Santos, who, as host, performed the honors of the opening, having also had the notable presence of the Luanda Railways Chairman, Júlio Joaquim, of the Chair of Gas and Renewable Energy Business Unit (UNGER), Manuel Barros, among other distinguished guests and company staff.

During the closing of the ceremony, the Chair, Manuel Barros stated that Sonangol, through UNGER, will build in the Kinguila area, a modern facility, with a storage capacity of 400 m3 of gas, and its construction is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2022. “The purpose of the facility is to increase the storage and delivery volume of the product in Malanje and neighboring provinces,” he highlighted.​
