During a meeting between Russia’s Gazprom and Algeria’s Sonatrach, the two looked at the current status of, and the outlook for the cooperation in the gas sector, among other things, as part of their joint development of fields in Algeria.
Since 2010 Gazprom has conducted 2D and 3D surveys and drilled six wells as part of the exploration and development of the El Assel oil and gas project in Algeria’s Berkine Basin. The well survey has proven the presence of hydrocarbon pay zones. Currently the Russian firm is working on the delineation of the field.
The meeting also considered joint actions within new oil and gas projects, while giving particular attention to potential LNG supplies.
