Victoria Oil & Gas’ unit in Cameroon, Gaz du Cameroun (GDC), launched engineering works for the new drilling campaign on its Logbaba field. The company plans to drill two new wells on the field.
The company has contracted Savannah Oil Services to provide the drilling rig for the project and the rig is currently on its way to Cameroon. GDC has also chosen SPD Petrofac to provide well design and project management services.
Major site preparation work is also underway including slope stabilization, the building of security fence line, leveling operations for the drilling rig track and drilling pad preparation. New warehousing for rig supplies, storage and camp civils are also under construction and long-lead orders have been placed.
One of the wells will twin the La-104 well drilled in 1957 and the other well will be a step-out well that will be drilled into a target that is intended to prove up more of the company’s probable reserves. Both of the wells will be drilled directionally from a drilling pad adjacent to the Logbaba gas plant and will be tied into GDC’s production facilities immediately after they are drilled and completed.
In a statement the company said that it remains on schedule to meet its objectives and confirmed that its current plan is to commence drilling in late Q2, with a view to complete operations by the end of 2016. The budget total for the project is less than $40 million, “significantly lower” than initial estimates made in 2015.
