Nigeria’s National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) is joining forces with General Electric and GIZ to improve its curriculum as well as expand its simulation and training equipment. The arrangement with the two international firms is aimed at becoming a world-class power institute.
NAPTIN plans to train more than 2,000 graduates of electronics/electrical engineering, among other technicians and craftsmen over the next year to contribute to the power sector in Nigeria.
GE will help NAPTIN adapt its curriculum to the National Occupational Standards and GE has made it clear it is committed to aiding Nigeria develop its power sector.
According to Engineer Okeke, “The planned review would ensure that the curriculum which we currently operate is aligned with the national standards in these five areas in the power sector. The are also looking at upgrading facilities we have on training, as well as profiling our faculty.”
