Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo said byproducts from the process of producing petroleum would soon be used to create assets, including petrochemicals. This announcement was made in London at the London Business School’s Africa Summit on “The important role of industrialization.”

“Our oil fields provide us with the perfect opportunity to create a petrochemical industry in Ghana,” he said, according to statements reported by My Joy Online.

A project to build a petrochemical plant is being developed, according to Akufo-Addo. It will produce plastics, paint, rubber, fertilizers, detergents, dyes, textile and bitumen for the construction of roads on an industrial scale for the local and regional markets
