The government of Ghana has awarded two firms access to onshore acreage. Swiss African Oil Company and PET Volta Investments were awarded an exploration and production license for the Keta Delta Block in the Volta Region.
The acquisition makes Swiss African Oil and PET Volta the first to explore for oil onshore Ghana.
The Keta Delta block license was awarded to the JV between Swiss African Oil, PET Volta, the government of Ghana, and GNPC following ratification by the country’s parliament.
The new block covers an area of 3,000 sq km and it is envisaged that the commencement of operations will provide employment and stimulate local development of the region.
