The two power barges that were expected offshore Ghana this month to help the country bridge the gap in power capacity are delayed. The two vessels are now expected to arrive offshore the West African country in late-November.
According to GRiDCO, the Karpower ship from Turkey is in transit to Ghana, but will be delayed once again. The vessels were expected in April before being pushed back to September and then October.
Speaking at a Public Utility Regulatory Commission’s First Stakeholder Meeting on a major Tariff Review process, the principal engineer in charge of system operations department of GRiDCO, Kofi Owiredu, revealed that the power lines would be ready by the time power barges reach Ghana.
