Ghana Refinery Shut In

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Ghana’s main oil refinery, was shut in due to mechanical difficulties, according to a TOR spokesperson. Aba Lokko told Reuters the refinery would be shut in for about a month.

Lokko said a lack of maintenance at the refinery due to lack of funds led to the breakdown. “We were refining the (oil) residue and then a unit within that plant developed a fault so there was some serious issue with it and so we had to shut down the plant,”the spokesperson said, referring to the fault in the residue fluid catalytic cracking plant.
