Ghana to Award Oil Blocks

Monday, May 21, 2018

Nine oil blocks will be awarded by Ghanaian authorities this year and next according to the country’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. The blocks are located off the country’s western coast.

The government plans to award six of the nine blocks during 2018, while the remaining three will be given out next year through a mix of open competitive tender and direct negotiations, the Ministry said in a statement.

It said GNPC, the state-run oil and gas firm, will acquire one of the blocks to explore in partnership with a strategic partner to develop its technical capacity and become an operator.
