Ghana to Import LNG from Equa G

Equatorial Guinea and Ghana will sign an agreement that revolves around the importation of LNG. According to the office of Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo,the state leader will sign the deal to import LNG from Equatorial Guinea. The news was revealed during the Ghanaian president’s three day visit to Equatorial Guinea last week.

The imported LNG will be used to aid Ghana in meeting its power production needs for the domestic market.

A Reuters report, referencing a statement from Akufo-Addo’s communications director, said that the president was expected to sign a framework document with his counterpart President Teodoro Obiang Nguema to import LNG from Equatorial Guinea for five years.

“The execution of this agreement is intended to augment domestic supply over the period, and improve further the power situation in the country, both for local consumers and industry,” the statement said.
