Ghana will see natural gas production start from the ENI-operated Sankofa fields any day now, according to Ben Asante, CEO of Ghana Gas. Sankofa is the first non-associated gas project in the country and is expected to produce an estimated 170 Mmcf/d of gas.
According to data provided by ENI, the Sankofa project, which consists of the Sankofa Main, Sankofa East and Gye-Nyame gas sub-projects, has a potential of 1.45 Tcf of gas.
The start of production from the Sankofa fields will allow for Ghana to reduce its energy imports.
