Helicopter Crashes Off Ghanaian Coast

A helicopter operated by Ghana’s Volta River Aviation crashed into the ocean on May 8 off the coast of Ghana, killing at least three people according to reports. The helicopter was carrying oil work for Lukoil out to a rig when it crashed.

A military spokesman, Mbawine Attintande said that besides the three dead, four people from the crash had been rescued and one was missing.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority said the incident occurred after the helicopter took off from Takoradi on its way to the Jack Ryan rig.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
