In Amenas to Hit Full Capacity in Coming Weeks

Friday, January 31, 2014

The In Amenas gas plant in Algeria will be back to running at full capacity in the coming weeks, after being shut in due to an Islamist attack one year ago.

“Two-thirds of capacity is already onstream and the last unit will start in a few weeks so In Amenas will be back at full capacity in a few weeks,” Ali Hached, senior adviser to Algeria’s energy minister, said on the sidelines of an industry event that took place in London this week.

In Amenas has a capacity of around 30 Mmcm/d and is currently producing at a rate of 20 Mmcm/d, Hached said.

BP, Statoil, and Sonatrach operate the plant.
