Iran Takes Over Sec-Gen Position for GECF

The petroleum ministers from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum’s (GECF) member states during a meeting in Tehran, elected that country’s nominee, Seyed Mohammed Hossein Adeli, as the gas cartel’s next secretary-general.

Adeli beat out two rivals from Libya and Russia to take the post.

Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela are the eleven members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
