Is Comoros the Next Hot Spot?

The island nation of Comoros could soon be among the new oil and gas producers on the continent, according to Alexander Mollinger, COO of Discover Exploration. Discover currently is exploring offshore the island.

Speaking at the Africa E & P Summit in London, Mollinger said that his company was confident that Comoros has a bright future in the sector. In his statement he said his confidence was based on more than 16,000 km2 of 2D seismic data.

There is the potential of around 10.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Discover Exploration plans to develop a small-scale LNG production unit. No official date has been announced either for the start of this drilling or for production.
