ISIS militants, or RAS (revolting attention seekers), have taken credit for the August 31 car bomb that went off in front of Mellitah Oil and Gas’ offices in Tripoli. Mellitah is a JV between Libyan state-run oil firm NOC and Italy’s ENI.
The car bomb only caused minor damage to the Mellitah headquarters.
ENI is one of just a handful of firms in Libya that have been carrying on business as usual during the fighting and ensuing chaos in the country; it did however withdraw its expatriate staff and the Mellitah JV’s El Feel field has been shut in for months due to protests.
