Monday, June 24, 2013

KCA Deutag was awarded two new drilling contracts, one out of southeast Asia and one out of West Africa. The West Africa contract is for the company’s Ben Rinnes rig and the southeast Asia contract is a operating and maintenance drilling service contract.

In Gabon KCA’s Ben Rinnes has been contracted by Tullow Oil for a two well program. Drilling will begin in July and will last for 80 days.

In Myanmar, the company signed a two-year operating and maintenance drilling services contract for the Shwe Platform operated by Daewoo International Corporation.

KCA Deutag president of Offshore Rune Lorentzen commented in a statement “The West African market continues to be a major hub of activity for the oil and gas industry, and one where we have an established presence. Establishing new relationships in countries such as Gabon demonstrates how vibrant this area continues to be.

“South East Asia is an area where we have developed a strong and continually growing presence. This contract with Daewoo International Corporation is our second contract in Myanmar and strengthens our position in the region. With existing projects underway, and a number of further opportunities identified, we are in a good position to continue to develop KCA Deutag in an emerging market which offers extensive oil and gas potential.”
