KCA Deutag Wins New Contracts,

KCA Deutag was awarded a number of contracts for use of its land drilling rigs. The contracts, worth $110 million are coming out of the Middle East, Russia, and Africa. This award covers both new contracts and extensions of existing contracts.

In Africa, Nigeria to be specific, KCA’s 700hp rigs won a one-year contract to carry out a workover program, with a further one-year extension option.  Additionally, a second rig has won a short-term contract for a three-month program.  This 1500hp rig will be operating in an area of Nigeria where the company says it is seeing increasing activity.

The company has also had some success in Algeria where it was awarded a short- term contract extension for one of our 1500hp Speed rigs.

In the Middle East, KCA won extensions for its five heavy rigs operating in Oman. The extension for each rig ranges from one to two years. In addition to this, it also signed a contract with a new client in Oman for a 2000hp rigs. This is for a fixed term of six months.

In Russia a new drilling contract for a 1000hp rig with one of the country’s leading integrated oil companies. The contract has a fixed term of one year.
