In an effort to fund the construction of its planned pipeline from Hoima, Uganda to the coast of Kenya, the Kenya government is looking for financing to the tune of $3 billion. The Kenyan government is seeking the funds from the US’ $31-billion Power Africa Fund to support the construction. According to a report in The Star, the US supports the plan.

The pipeline will take crude produced in Uganda, as well as in Kenya and transport it to the proposed Lamu Port. A detailed feasibility study for the project has been completed and negotiations are ongoing between Kenya and the US to determine implementation.
