Three members of a supply vessel crew were kidnapped off the coast of Nigeria according to security sources in the country. Reports have the captain, chief engineer and second engineer abducted when gunmen boarded the Armada Tuah 22 off the coast of the Brass region in the Niger Delta.
This is the second attack in the region in under a week, with a fishing vessel attacked on March 2. One of the crew the fishing vessel attack was killed.
Firms operating in Nigeria over the years have been concentrating on offshore operations to avoid the insecurity of the oil regions in the Niger Delta, however more and more pirate hijackings are taking place offshore making Nigeria one of the most expensive oil-producing countries to operate in.
