Kosmos Energy reported in its Q2 results that it has secured a rig for drilling operations offshore Morocco. The company said that it had executed an LoI for a rig slot that will support its drilling activities in Morocco. Drilling offshore the North African country is expected to begin sometime in Q1 2014.
Kosmos also said in its results report that the farm-out of its Moroccan acreage had progressed during the quarter and finalization of a deal is expected in H2.
Over the past several years the company has secured itself a premier position in the offshore Agadir Basin operating three large blocks: Essaouira, Foum Assaka, and Tarhazoute. So far processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data from its 2012 data acquisition has taken place which allowed for the company to mature the prospectivity on the blocks.
