Kusile’s First Unit Online in South Africa

The first unit of South Africa’s Kusile coal-fired power plant has been successfully connected to the national grid. Eskom, South Africa’s power utility, is the operator of the Kusile power plant.

With the first unit online, South Africa will see an additional 800 MW of power generating capacity. Once fully operation Kusile will provide the grid with 4,800 MW of power.
