In Angola, the lawyers appealed to the country’s supreme court over what they claim was an illegal appointment of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos’ daughter has head of Sonangol, have now moved on to the country’s Constitutional Court.
The Supreme Court rejected the lawyers’ application to have Isabel dos Santos removed from Sonangol on December 27. In the pleading to the court President dos Santos’ was accused of nepotism and violating Angolan probity law.
The lawyers have now asked the Supreme Court to allow the Constitutional Court to hear an appeal against its ruling.
We have filed an extraordinary appeal at the Supreme Court, who transit the process to the Constitutional Court,” said David Mendes, one of the attorneys, in a Reuters report. “Nobody should get advantage based on their origin.”
