Libya: Second Fuels Convoy Heads South

Wednesday, January 2, 2019

National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the Brega Petroleum Marketing Company (BPMC) announce the departure of a second fuel convoy on December 26, 2018, of 113 trucks carrying 3.94 million liters of vehicle fuel, 2.6 million liters of diesel, and 80 metric tons of cooking gas from Misurata to the Sebha distribution center in southern Libya.

This initiative is part of NOC and BPMC’s ongoing efforts to ensure the continuous delivery of fuel to the South at official prices, and the curbing of fuel price manipulation and smuggling in the region.

Imad Benkoura, chairman of the BPMC management committee commented: “Ensuring that southern Libyans have constant access to fuel products is a priority. NOC and BPMC are working with security forces and southern municipalities to ensure the transparent and efficient delivery of fuel, diesel and cooking gas. Libyan citizens have a key role in helping prevent smuggling and raising awareness through the reporting of illicit behavior in the fuel supply-chain.

“BPMC will publish daily reports on all delivered quantities on its Facebook page. NOC and BPMC call upon all Libyan citizens to report any distribution violations witnessed, including price manipulation, the illicit sale of fuel, and irregularities in gas station working hours. Citizens are encouraged to directly contact local municipalities or report irregularities via the official BPMC Facebook page.”
