In Libya, the Cooperative Committee for the transport of oil and derivatives issued an ultimatum to Brega Petroleum Marketing Company and other oil distribution companies. The committee has given these firms 10 days to put a plan into action that will protect drivers from robberies and hijacking. If there is no action from the oil distributors than the committee will cease transporting fuel to Jufra and the south.
In addition, the committee urged the companies to modify their prices for transport costs to reflect the rise in spare parts prices.
Libya’s Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee called for an intervention before the 10 days is expired and has also asked that work should begin in contacting relevant authorities to provide the necessary protection for fuel trucks and work in coordination with the Ministry of Economy to consider raising the price of fuel transportation on transport companies.
