Reports have militants in the eastern portion of Libya sidestepping the federal government in Tripoli in its attempts to garner a larger share of the country’s oil revenues and selling the crude themselves. According to reports on PressTV militants loaded crude oil onto the North Korean-flagged tanker Morning Glory.
The Morning Glory is said to have docked at the eastern Libyan oil terminal of al-Sidra.
National Oil Corp. (NOC) confirmed that tanker had docked. However, it was unknown whether the tanker had loaded any crude oil and the Oil Ministry has denounced the move as an “act of piracy”. The government has previously stated that it would destroy any vessels attempting to purchase crude from the militants.
