Libyan NOCs Work to Unify

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

The two NOC’s in Libya, one out of the west and the other out of the east, have agreed on a structure for the group that could end the battle over who has the right to export Libyan crude. In May the rival firms agreed in principle to unify the oil sector, the latest agreement on structure and leadership took some time to figure out.

Mustafa Sanalla, from the Tripoli-based NOC, will remain chairman of the group, while the head of the eastern-backed NOC, Naji al-Maghrabi, will serve as a board member, according to a statement seen by Reuters.

It is hoped that a unified oil sector will be key in supporting the unity government.
