Libyan Production Topping 1 Million

Sunday, April 8, 2018

Libya’s production totals are on the rise despite one of its oil fields being shut in since February. The country says output topped 1 million bpd even without 70,000 bpd from the El Feel oil field.

According to a Reuters report citing a source, Libya’s production was lately fluctuating more or less around the 1.1 million bpd level.

The country’s state-run oil firm, NOC, declared a force majeure on production from the El Feel oil field in late February. The shut down at the field was due to protests by members of the Petroleum Facilities Guards (PFG) over pay and benefits.

While the PFG announced on March 7 that a deal had been reached to reopen the field, it remains shut because of security concerns, sources said in the Reuters report.

Libya will soon be seeing production from its offshore Sabratha platform shut in as the platform is going under maintenance.
