Egypt plans to end its imports of LNG by the end of the 2017/18 fiscal year in June, roughly a year sooner than previous estimates.
According to the country’s petroleum minister, Tarek El Molla, the boosting of production from recently discovered gas fields will allow for the country to halt the imports.
Molla said the country will save $250 million per month by no longer importing LNG.
