At a government function in Madagascar, it was revealed the the country would be delaying its launch of a licensing round. According to Bonaventure Rasoanaivo, director general of the island nation’s Office of National Mines and Strategic Industries, or Omnis, the planned tender of 40 offshore blocks will not take place until next year.
“Tenders will soon be launched on 40 offshore blocks in the Morondava basin,” said Rasoanaivo. “They should have been launched this year, but as the new petroleum code is not yet completed, tenders will be launched next year. We have 225 blocks, but they will not all be tendered.”
