Mafumeira Sul Flows in Angola

Sunday, November 13, 2016

Angola saw the start of production from the Mafumeira Sul field, according to state-run oil firm Sonangol. The initial output from the Mafumeira Sul is 10,000 bpd.

The $5.6-billion field was brought onstream using an early production system (EPS). The EPS allowed it to achieve crude flows while it is still being fully developed. Once developed, Angola should see about 110,000 bpd or more.

“While creating the conditions for the full operation of the project in the coming months, the EPS will operate with a maximum production capacity of 10,000 bpd of oil,”Sonangol said in a statement.

Chevron holds a 39.2% interest in Mafumeira Sul while Sonangol has a 41% stake. Other partners are Total and ENI, with 10% and 9.8% respectively.
