Mauritania and Senegal have agreed to work jointly in developing resources discovered by Kosmos Energy off their respective coasts. Petrosen of Senegal and SMHPM of Mauritania have been told by their governments to continue working with Kosmos in exploring for oil and gas.
Kosmos signed a MoU with the two state-owned companies entailing collaboration between the two governments.
Kosmos Energy, in January, discovered a giant gas field at Saint Louis, off the Senegalese coast. The field reportedly straddles both countries maritime border.
