Mozambique Approves LNG Contract Changes

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Changes to LNG contracts with Anadarko Corp. and ENI have been approved by Mozambique’s cabinet. The changes allow the two firms to sell the government’s share of LNG produced from the Rovuma Basin projects.

“The government opted to relinquish its right to receive in kind its quota of available gas as well as the gas production tax. The aim is to turn the projects viable,” government spokeswoman Ana Coana said. “The concessionaires commit themselves to a joint-sale of liquefied natural gas in order to offer huge volumes and get better prices at the market,” she added.

The contracts relate to Anadarko’s project on Offshore Area 1 and one of ENI’s projects on Offshore Area 4, the South Coral project.
