Sasol Petroleum International (SPI) is set to give Mozambique its first commercial production and sale of crude oil. SPI’s MD, Ebbie Haan said that the company’s Inhassoro field should begin production next year.
“It’s a small development, but it is a sign perhaps there is more,” Haan told Reuters. “If we were to develop [the field] with one or two wells in the first phase, we would be talking about multiples of 1,100 bpd. So if we drill two wells, you probably get 2,000 bpd,” he added.
SPI’s MD went on to say that the company plans to invest around $2.4 billion in Mozambique on a variety of projects through 2018.
