Murphy Oil Corp. and OMV are set to jump into Namibia’s exploration game according to the southern African nation’s petroleum commissioner Immanuel Mulunga. The two firms have entered into a deal involving block 2613 A & B.
Mulunga told Reuters that the deal had already won the approval of Mines and Energy Minister Isak Katali. It was not clear if it had been finalized or if all the parties had signed it.
Cowan, a Brazilian firm, currently holds 85% of the block and its is said that it will farm out 45% to Murphy and 20% to OMV. Murphy will be the new operator in the block.
