Namibia’s Welwitschia Spuds

The Welwitschia-1 well on PEL00 offshore Namibia has finally spud according to JV partner Tower Resources. Tower was informed by the operator of PEL0010, Repsol, that the well was spud using the Rowan Renaissance drillship on April 23.  

The spud of the well has been delayed more than once while the partners waited for the rig to arrive. Earlier it was reported that the well would spud by April 25.

The well is located offshore Namibia on PEL0100 and is targeting net risked recoverable resources of 496 million boe to Tower’s 30% interest and will intersect up to five separate reservoir targets ranging from the Palaeocene-Maastrichtian to the Albian Carbonate sequence at a potential total depth of 3,000 meter TVDSS.
