Nampower Ups Planned Power Plant Capacity

Friday, August 15, 2014

Namibia Power (Nampower) has increased the amount of power generation capacity for the planned gas-fired power plant. The plant will use production from the Kudu field for feedstock.

Nampower is expected to sign a purchase agreement with Tullow Oil, operator of the Kudu field, for the natural gas by December.

The enlarged capacity of the plant will bring it up to 1,050 MW and cost an estimated $1.3 billion to construct. The previous plan for the power plant gave it a capacity of 800 MW.
