NDEP Unit Hits with Ogbele-9 Appraisal Well

Thursday, January 29, 2015

Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR), a subsidiary of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP), encountered a significant amount of hydrocarbon sand while drilling the Ogbele-9 appraisal well. NDPR said it encountered 400ft of net hydrocarbon sands, most of it oil, over several intervals.

The primary objectives of the Ogbele-9 appraisal well were reservoirs in an undrilled fault block. The well was expected to be completed and put on production immediately but technical challenges impeded the company’s progress.

The company plans to drill the Ogbele-10 and Ogbele-11 wells through the same slot that NDPR drilled the Ogbele-9 well using the ACM 5 rig which the company has under a two-year contract.
