ExxonMobil and the government of Equatorial Guinea, through its state-run firm GEPetrol, made a discovery while drilling on Block EG-06. The discovery was made with the drilling of the Avestruz-1 well.
ExxonMobil, the operator of Block EG-06, is now assessing potential commerciality.
Avestruz-1 is located approximately 160 km offshore Malabo in an exploration area adjacent to ExxonMobil’s Zafiro field on Block B. The company signed its PSC for Block EG-06 in 2015. ExxonMobil also recently entered Block EG-11, which is adjacent to Block EG-06.
