Thursday, April 11, 2019

Sengalese president, Macky Sall, named a new government following his reelection, with one of the posts seeing a change being the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. President Sall named former MD of the country’s state-run utility Senelec, Mouhamadou Makhtar Cisse, as the country’s new Minister of Petroleum and Energy.

While Cisse has experience in the energy sector, he has little or no experience in the oil and gas sector. During his tenor as MD of Senelec, Cisse kickstarted numerous solar power projects, placing Senegal as a regional leader in renewable energy generation.
