Nigeria’s Boko Haram Releases Beheading Video

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

The Boko Haram, Nigeria’s Islamist militants, released a video with a nauseatingly familiar theme, beheading. The militant’s video reportedly showed the beheading of two men which contained editing techniques seen in footage from ISIL. The reports say that the video does not actually show the beheadings, just the two men on their knees with a man holding a large knife behind them, the next scene is of decapitated bodies.

It could be said that the Boko Haram has no need to take lessons in brutality from ISIL, as the often machete wielding group is brutal enough on its own. The group is responsible for thousands of deaths and the kidnapping of hundreds.

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has said Boko Haram is allied to both al Qaeda and ISIL, although this has not been confirmed by the group itself.
