NNPC and Schlumberger Partner Up

NNPC revealed in a statement that it is partnering with Schlumberger in exploration and reservoir management. The Nigerian state-run firm believes the partnership will aid in finding commercial reserves in the Chad Basin as well as other inland areas.

The company’s COO Ventures, BabatundeAdeniran, said in the NNPC News bulletin, that the first thing to be undertaken was exploration and risk assessment studies of Nigerian frontier basins.

Adeniran said that NNPC’s research and development division was ready to take full advantage of a $1 billion global endowment fund for research instituted by Schlumberger.

Other areas of collaboration between NNPC and Schlumberger include wellbore instabilities studies to assist in reducing drilling costs through prevention of stuck pipes, improve safety, and drilling performance.
