NNPC Denies $16 Billion Remit Failure

Following the recent report that Nigeria’s NNPC failed to remit an estimated $16 billion to the government, the state-run firm came out denying the amount saying it only owed $1.64 billion.

Nigeria’s auditor-general made the allegations in a report earlier in the week.

“NNPC wishes to state in strong terms that the AuGF’s (Auditor General of the Federation’s) declaration is erroneous,” it said in a statement, adding that the auditor-general had failed to account for costs including a fuel subsidy, pipeline vandalism and maintenance.
