Libya could see a big production boost by restarting one of its major fields, however the country does not have the power needed to turn on the tap. According to NOC, the El Feel field is ready to restart after being shut in for two years.
The El Feel relies on crude from the Sharara field to power its pumps, unfortunately the Sharara field is under force majeure after production was disrupted by an armed group.
“To start production and lift the force majeure, we also need to open Sharara oil field,” said Mustafa Sanalla, chairman of NOC, in an interview with Bloomberg.
