In Egypt UK-based BP will add to its gas production totals a little earlier than expected. According to the North African country’s petroleum minister, Tarek El Molla, BP’s North Alexandria concession will see gas production start up in early-2017, rather than mid-2017 which had been estimated previously.
Speaking at a news conference, El Molla said the concession’s production would come in at around 450 MMcf/d in 2017, with peak production of about 1.2 Bcf being seen by the end of 2019.
Egypt will be seeing more investment from BP in the coming years as it was recently awarded three new concessions offshore Egypt as part of EGAS’ latest licensing round.
