Monday, April 30, 2018

Nigeria’s state-run oil and gas firm, NNPC, aims to make its E&P unit a top oil producer. NNPC wants the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) to be the top oil producer rivaling international producers like Shell in the country, according to the company’s group managing director Maikanti Baru in a local media report.

The NPDC goal is to take that daily production level up to 500,000 bpd soon, according to Baru. As of September 2017, the company was the fifth largest oil producer in Nigeria with flows of 180,000 bpd. It is planned that by the end of 2018 the company will produce at a rate of 300,000 bpd; going up 100,000 bpd in the years 2019 and 2020 to reach the 500,000 bpd goal.
