While the world often looks to OPEC member countries as the source of the majority of global crude oil production, there is another producer in the US that ranks up there with several of the cartel’s producers, Texas.
According to reports, Texas oil production is at its highest level since 1984. Currently the state ranks in the top 15 of the world’s oil producers, if it was a country that is. Texas’ production levels rank it up there with OPEC producers such as Venezuela, Kuwait, and Nigeria.
The US produced roughly 221 million barrels of oil in April, one-third of that coming from Texas.
