New Feature Offers A Secure, Durable and Convenient Alternative to Magnetic Stripe Cards

HODGKINS, IL – September 5, 2014 – OPW, a Dover Company (NYSE: DOV) and the global leader in fluid-handling solutions, is pleased to announce a proximity reader for cards and key fobs is now available for its Petro Vend 100® Fuel Control System.

“The new Petro Vend 100 proximity reader offers users a convenient fueling experience while facilitating a secure fueling authorization,” said OPW Fuel Control Product Manager Orlando Hernandez.

With a proximity reader, users can simply hold the card or key fob close to the reader – which identifies the user and checks whether or not to grant access to fueling – without the need to insert a card into a reader device.

Advantages of a proximity card/key fob reader include:

  • Improved reliability: Proximity cards and key fobs are less prone to physical damage or wear because there is no physical contact between the card or key fob and the reader.
  • Enhanced security: Proximity cards and key fobs are more secure than magnetic stripe cards. Using PINs along with the card or key fob provides a higher level of security to help prevent unauthorized users from fueling.
  • Easy to install: Upgrading a Petro Vend 100 system from keyboard-only or magnetic cards is easy and can be done by any OPW distributor in just a few minutes.

Proximity cards support OPW K800™ Fuel Control System formatting, which can be encoded at the factory.
