Release

Aberdeen based Pentagon Freight, a leading international freight forwarder and logistics service provider to the oil and gas industry, was presented with the Excellence in Customer Service award last night (25 September) at the Northern Star Business Awards.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) in front on an audience of around 600 people. Pentagon Freight fought off competition in its category from Aberdeen International Airport and Grampian Fasteners to come out on top.

The Excellence in Customer Service award recognises a company that consistently delivers outstanding customer service and can demonstrate, through structured assessment and satisfaction measurement, that meeting customers’ needs is a priority throughout its entire business.

Pentagon Freight was recognised for its significant investment in client and staff training and for retaining a ‘personal touch’ whilst successfully growing on an international basis.

The focus on customer relationships has seen Pentagon Freight save clients six figure sums through helping them to improve and streamline their internal processes and has led to the freight forwarder working with some of the largest companies in the global oil and gas industry.

Neil Youngson, general manager at Pentagon Freight Services Aberdeen, said: “We have experienced exceptional success and growth in recent years and the most significant contributing factor are the value added services we offer our clients. Growth in our client base of 12% in 2013 has enabled us to open a further four offices globally and complete a £1.3m expansion at our Aberdeen warehouse to meet customer demand.”

Pentagon Freight is one of the world’s largest privately-owned freight forwarders for the oil and gas industry, with core services including global forwarding, materials management, project logistics and consultancy and advice services.

Neil continued: “We are more than just a freight forwarder. Our experience of working on thousands of international projects has allowed us to hone our approach to customer service and encourage an internal culture of going above and beyond.

“To be presented with this award is a huge achievement and recognises the efforts that our staff bring to the job every day.”

Pentagon Freight, established in 1974, operates globally with 58 located bases and partners spanning from over 20 countries in the world’s key oil and gas hubs. The company supports more than 750 clients from the Aberdeen base, all operating within the oil and gas sector.
