South Sudan and Petronas signed an extension of the EPSA and Transitional Agreement Extension for Blocks 1, 2, and 4. The agreement gives the Malaysian state-run firm almost seven more years on the blocks.
The agreements were signed by South Sudan’s Minister of Petroleum Ezekiel Lol Gatkuothand Petronas chairman, JaninGirie. The agreements are the result of extensive negotiations between the Ministry and the partners of the joint venture Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC), which includes Petronas, CNPC, ONGC, and Nilepet.
In a statement, the Minister said that South Sudan is also committed to achieving their goal of reaching a peak oil output of 350,000 bpd by mid-2019.
